CD: Just wondering if (?) this M/C might be an offshoot of the old 'LeMans America' M/C? As I recall there just wern't enough Lemans owners to fill the ranks, so they started including RE5 (Rotary) owners, then later GS owners? Honest to gosh it ain't important... just wondering.

Until I became a Suzuki owner, I would not have thought there were very many people that have a bike like mine, but I was wrong! The Intruder (the name is now the Boulevard!) is a great bike (and big!! 825 lbs of Big!!) and rides like a Caddy and there is a huge number of them out and about.
The big difference the SOC and 'LeMans America' M/C is that The SOC is a club not for the benefit of the bike owners, rather, the benefit of the Lupus Foundation. I lost my father-in-law to Lupus and now have two sisters-in-law, with this dreaded disease.
While we are a club that tries to have fun and fellowship, we have as the primary purpose to help others in the only way we can...by raising monies to fund research.
Gosh it's great that you remember the old LeMans America M/C club!! I thought they were gone into memory heaven a long time ago!!!!!!

Yikes? Talk about (me!) late responding but better then never?! I remember LeMans America because I'd imagine (?) surely I had been a member at one time or another?! Of course having owned a 1976 Suzuki GT750A at one time (and a 1974 T500L before that) didn't hurt. When Suzuki dropped all they're Street going two-strokes by 78' (thanks friggin' EPA) I lost interest in Susies until the 1200cc 'Madura' came out! That scoot was a real odd-ball, natch' I loved it. Hydraulic Valve Adjusters NUMBER One, water-cooling, triple discs and a drive shaft on a V-4 1200cc Cruiser setup, and otherwise fit me except the Flat-style Spoke Wheels (that was the deal breaker).

Now these days I'm seriously missing the complete and total simplicity to deal with of those (before the GS series replaced em') wonderful old 2-stroke Suzukis. Everybody goes on (and on) about the old Kawi Triples... fine. But I haven't forgotten how also people were replacing Crankshafts and CDI systems back then like nobody's buisness on those old Kawi's! The Suzuki Ring-Dinger street bikes remained reliable, dependable and SO easy to service. Yup, one nearly took my life for gosh sakes - known to the factory racers AS the 'Flexi-Flyer'. But ultimately that was MY fault - the bike warned me for about a year - I didn't listen - say no more.

LRG, my first street bike was a 66 250 X-6 Hustler,(got it used in 68). 6 speed, oil injection and light weight. Surprised more than a few Triumphs and Beezers at the the local drag strip. Didn't handle near as well as the early RD's but; man that was a long time ago...

I remember the Maduras and Cavlecades, yeh they were a step in progress. But them old 500 Titans just seemed to run forever. Sorry to ramble, I still remember hill climbing a 441 Victor. Almost tore up my knee just trying to start that thing on a hot day of riding.

Dang... in the late Eighties I knew a guy who had a near original BSA/Triumph 500cc Thumper Enduro (this was made right after the two companies merged in the 70's), the more or less predecessor to the Victor, in non-running condition. That scoot was beautiful - I had to have it! I did everything I could to wrangle it off of him but no soap. I understand - he was an old school biker and this was his last ride - he wanted to hang onto it (even though he never did get it running / rideable). I even offered to get it running FOR him - nope. I dunno, but I'll always remember that bike as being among several that got away from me over the years.
