| Riding Outside The USA Within North America Yikes, it has been a long time (30+ years?) but I'd say for anyone who hasn't done it yet, definitely consider taking a MC Putt thru both Canada and Baja (Mexico). The experience and memories of my having done this were priceless! I seriously doubt things have changed all that much in either place, or at least so I have been told. First I traveled through Canada twice – the first time entering the western providences and exiting thru BC. The next time I hit most all of the provinces entering at New Foundland) only sadly missing Nova Scotia. I feel Quebec was especially interesting – as it would seem unlikely now I will ever make it over to France (as I had at one time planned to do so) Quebec surely must be the next best thing?! My only wish is that the next time (if ever) I should go, that my ‘Par-le-vue Francie’ should be much better. Ditto for Mexico – Baja, California all the way to the tip of Cabo San Lucas and back. Beautiful weather and super nice folks. Again, my only hindrance being lack of expertise at ‘Espanol’ (though a site better then my French!)! | Spider Interwebby Thingy | That is the drawback to the sportbikes that I ride - the seat is agony after an hour unless you are hanging off the bike. A buddy loaned me a Goldwing one time, and I could ride that thing all day... maybe in a couple years after I get a VTX I can check out our border neighbors too. Thanks for sharing the information ![]()

| Yikes?! I do apologize for that! I do relate: while I did have for a short time a reasonably comfortable 'Sport Tourer' (1982 Yamaha XJ650 Secca Turbo) I later had restored a 1974 Kawi KZ900 Cafe Racer. Man, I tried riding that from Santa Barbara, CA to Colorado Springs, CO one year - I was ready to DIE by the time I made it, I was in so much pain! Mind you, the crappy $300 bucks that the dealer there gave me for that beautiful little scoot sure didn't help! BUT I did wind up riding back home on one of the nicest used (probably any!) Harleys I'd had: a 1984 FXSB-80 Low-Rider. Sigh.... wish I still had it! Aw well. LRG ![]() |

| Gixxer Girl | Yeah I'm with Adrian on this one. Sport bikes are def not meant for touring. I can usually ride out a tank of gas but I'm pretty ready to get off and stretch by 120-130 miles if not before. 1 1/2 hours is about the comfortable max for me at one time. I've done 500 miles in 1 day and I was not happy by the end at all. I don't really have any interest in touring anyway, my bike is for fun and going fast. If I want to check out the scenery I'd do it from my air conditioned car....I never have been a long distance rider kind of person. Frankly I hate driving long distances too now that you mention it |

| Actually I have to agree with that these days. If and when (getting to be a newsworthy event now?! ) I can even get out on a bike anymore, the rides are that of quality, not quantity as in years past. Really feel the need to slow it a bit down these days and actually get to see a bit of the beautiful countryside... this instead of just being a speeding bullet from point A to point B in the shortest amount of time (except for stopping for tickets along the way! ).
