| | Spider Interwebby Thingy | Need help getting my bike running. I own a 2003 Honda CBR954RR that sat up for almost 2 years. I am in the military and I was stationed in Korea and couldn't take it with me. So, my wife would go into the garage and start it up every few weeks while I was gone.
Anyway, I got back here to the states, did some repairs on the forks and then took it for a test ride around the neigborhood. Not even a mile into the ride the bike started losing power.
I have new fuel in the bike, let me get that out of the way, right away. I put the bike on a stand and fired it up and held the throttle open partially so it wouldn't die again. Fuel is spraying out of the exhaust, so I spray water on the headers and find out that my #1 and #4 cylinder are not firing. I thought maybe plugs, but I swapped them with the #2 and #3 plugs and the #1 and #4 are still not firing.
Before I go too much further, anyone else have any ideas?

| that really sucks
only thing i can think of is check plug wires and ignition source
i gather those two cylinders have compression though? |

| on the 2 cylinders that aren't firing, pull the plug wire/coil pack and put a spark plug in it, hold it close to a ground like the frame. crank it a few times and see if you have a spark on those 2 cylinders. if you do, then i'd just say you have 2 clogged injectors. i would think that's all it is, since it ran fine before. you may have churned up some old gunk in the tank that is now in the injectors. if you are brave, you can swap injectors and see if the problem moves. if it isn't firing, swap the coils to the other cylinder and see what happens.
are you sure it's fuel in the exhaust and not just condensation from not being used? |

| | Spider Interwebby Thingy | Oh yeah.. it is pouring out and reeks just like gasoline. lol. My wild guess is that I am not getting spark. But I will do a spark test tonight.

| | Spider Interwebby Thingy | Well, I am getting spark, so it has to be something else.

| | Spider Interwebby Thingy | Well, I have fire, and when I put my palm over the throttle body it will suck down so I am thinking it isn't rings keeping compression from happening. So, with spark, compression, that leaves air and fuel. I am getting air, so it has to be fuel. I am wondering if maybe the cylinder is just drowning; there is a ton of fuel down in the exhaust, like a faucet that has been left cracked open... like there is no fuel pressure regulation going on. That is my next step I guess... I am in uncharted territory (for me).
