Well this morning was a little unfriendly. I was riding my bike to work and I rode past a motorcycle cop and I waved... he snubbed me. Then not even thirty seconds later some dude in a tank top and basketball shorts snubbed me from his gixxer. What the hell?

Cops often don't wave I've noticed and I think some of the newer riders just don't know any better. Lately it seems a heck of a lot of people are getting bikes because of gas prices and they don't know bike etiquette yet or they just don't care. Either way I usually wave and when I get nothing back I finsh my wave with only 1 finger..

Yeah, I wouldn't let that get you down Partner - be happy in the knowledge that you did the right thing, and are seriously the 'Real Biker', or 'True Enthusiast' if you prefer.

There's very few if any out there that get by me without getting a wave from me - this being whether they want it or not and/or care to return one. This regardless that I'm on a Harley or Victory Cruiser, and I could care less what they're riding!

I'd say the rate of return is probably 50 to 75%. Of course as the Rally here draws closer and comes and goes, waves go way down - understandable with 100's of 1,000's of bikes!

The neatest thing I think though is when I'm often times riding the rural secondary roads and over the years have gotten waves from folks on Horseback, or on Tractors, or just Farmers or Ranchers just standing there. Natch' they get a friendly wave back.
