All the airbag wires need to be moved so that the adapter for the new steering wheel can be put on. So, the plastic covers around the steering column need to be removed. Oh, by the way: don't leave your windows down all day when you are living in the desert. The dirt sticks to the armor-all and then you get a mess just like you see in these photos. Now I have to clean the truck again tomorrow.

Once the covers were removed, the spiral cable has to come off.

Alas, it is still connected.

Let's move it out of the way and see what the adapter looks like when it is slid into place!

Coool.... okay, let's dig all that SRS wiring out. I don't want to cut the cables because I can sell the old steering wheel and it will be worth more with the spiral cable and all harnesses intact. So let's cut the zip ties and fish that cable out.

Alright, the cables are out, let's take a look at our progress.

I think we are ready for a steering wheel. Let's get the rubber holder off the back and get started installing.

I forgot to take pictures of the horn button wiring. I'll take it apart and shoot photos some other time. For now, let's use our allen wrench to install the steering wheel on the bolted-in adapter.
Alright, put the plastic steering column covers back on, and here is our finished product:

I have some black dye that I am going to use to cover the blue stitching, but other than that, we are done.
