| Super Moderator | Driving a Prius for the 1st time. I drove a customers Prius today. Wow, it was really strange to start with. I didn't even hear her start it. She asked if I wanted to take it for a spin. We had been chatting about the economy and the hybrid cars, etc. I hopped in and couldn't even tell it was running , save that the a/c was on and i could hear the blower. I stepped on the gas pedal and it moved, but still no sounds. I drove around the parking lot and if I didn't know better I would have said someone was just pushing the car. The only sound I could hear was the suspension moving around. I parked the car and said thanks. as she was leaving all I heard was the faint whine of the electric motor. Kind of reminded me of the tram-car at the shore. |

| Spider Interwebby Thingy | What kind of mpg did she say she was getting? I am guessing it is a battery-gas motor hybrid... does it self charge? That sounds like it would have been a little surprising. I bet the stereo comes through loud and clear...

| Super Moderator | MPG. She doesn't really check it. Her husband has and got 58 around town. Apparently it does self charge. She never mentioned having to plug it in. She said it's great I just jump in and go.I didn't get to play with the radio, but I would assume there is never a problem hearing it. That thing was so quiet. I was shocked. Honestly, I didn't think it was running. |
