Simoncelli used his clumbsy style to shove his way through the chicane under Max Biaggi, the dangerous move almost took out Biaggi and Ben Spies who were pushed off the track. What Marco Simoncelli has in skill is overshadowed by his reckless race style – he took out his team mate in the chicane this race, and he crashed out in race 1. Ben Spies had been putting in work and had made his way back to the fight for third when Simoncelli made his nothing-to-lose move (Simoncelli doesn’t normally race WSBK) which pushed him way back into sixth place. Spies would fight back to fifth, and lose the championship points lead back to Haga.
Congratulations to Michele Fabrizio for his decisive win over his Ducati team mate.
